RVmigo is an RV rental marketplace built in San Diego. Owners keep 100% of what they charge, and renters pay no service fee. We are building something that works for both sides of the trip: owners who want their rental business back, and renters who would rather deal with the person who owns the rig. Whoever joins works on the real thing rather than on a corner of it.
Interview RV owners across San Diego to understand what drives their decisions, turn the patterns you find into evidence we act on, and onboard the owners this platform fits.
On the one booking we hold a real payout statement for, less than half of what the renter paid reached the owner of the RV. We take nothing. That sounds like an easy pitch, and we are not sure it is, because most of what we believe about RV owners comes from forums, competitor pages and one owner's experience with one rig.
This role goes and finds out. You will run short calls with owners around San Diego and ask how they rent today: where they list, what it costs them, what works and what drives them up the wall. You are not selling on those calls. Owners keep whatever platform they already use, because RVmigo syncs calendars with it, so nobody is ever asked to switch. That is what makes the conversation an honest one.
The second half is what happens when someone likes what they hear. You stay on the call and walk them through building their listing while they drive their own screen. You will watch real people meet this product for the first time, which is something we have never been able to do.
Most of your time. Around fifteen minutes each, by phone or video, from wherever you are.
The onboarding half of the role, and where the research pays off the same afternoon.
This is a real study with a real deliverable, not filing and note-taking. By December you will have run one end to end and written it up.
This is an early-stage company and a fast-paced one, and both of those are a description rather than a recruiting adjective. The distance between something you find and something that changes on the site is days rather than quarters. An owner tells you on a Tuesday call that a step confused them, and it can be different before your next interview. You will watch your own work ship, which most internships cannot offer at any level.
You will work with AI tooling on the research itself, and with modern tools generally, rather than hearing about them. Transcribing interviews, taking a first pass at coding what people said, drafting and then pressure-testing your interview guide before you use it on anyone. Doing that well, and knowing the places it quietly gets things wrong, is becoming part of how research is actually done. You will leave with real opinions about that, which is worth more than having used any particular tool.
You will own the project end to end: your questions, your interviews, your findings, your report. Nobody is going to hand you a script to read.
This is applied research methods, about a year before you would meet them in a lecture theatre. Semi-structured interviewing, question design, coding qualitative data and consent are all core undergraduate methods, and here you do them on a live question rather than a set exercise.
The most interesting part is a psychology problem in its own right. Almost every owner will tell you the fee is what bothers them most. Some will then explain, without noticing the contradiction, that they cannot leave anyway, because that platform is where their insurance comes from. People are not reliable narrators of their own motives, and learning to hear the gap between what someone says and what they do is the skill this whole job runs on.
A student, in the last years of high school or early in an undergraduate degree. How you are with people matters far more here than anything on your resume.
You will not be handed a phone list and left to it.
Twelve weeks from September 2026, four hours a week on average. Lighter at the start, heavier through the busiest stretch of interviewing. Four is a ceiling rather than a target, and the hours are yours to choose around school. The work pauses for two weeks in late November so university applications get your full attention.
This is a remote role. The calls happen from wherever you are, and any visit in person happens alongside the founder. Pay is a stipend for the project rather than an hourly rate, and the amount is discussed on application. Where a school runs a work-based learning programme, the placement can be arranged through it.
Send a resume to the address below with a short note about why the role interests you. It does not need to be long or formal. If you want a prompt: tell us about a time you got someone to tell you something they had not planned to.
